조남희
조남희는 대한민국 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 현대 추상 화가입니다. 홍익대학교 미술대학원 회화과에서 석사 학위를 취득하였으며, 선(線)이라는 가장 원초적인 조형 요소를 통해 식물 형태와 순수 추상의 경계를 탐구합니다.
작가의 손끝에서 만들어지는 수만 개의 선은 단순한 드로잉을 넘어, 시간과 내면의 성찰을 축적하는 명상적 과정입니다. 볼펜과 색연필이라는 일상적 도구를 통해 현대 미술의 새로운 가능성을 탐색합니다.
Zoe Nam Hee is a contemporary abstract painter based in Seoul, South Korea. Holding an M.F.A. in Painting from Hongik University Graduate School of Art, she explores the boundaries between floral forms and pure abstraction through the "Line" — the most fundamental element of any writing instrument.

선(線)의 미학
작가는 모든 필기구의 가장 근본적인 요소인 '선'을 주요 매체로 활용합니다. 그의 작업은 식물 형태와 순수 추상의 경계를 흐릿하게 만들며, 손끝에서 만들어지는 수만 개의 선은 단순한 드로잉을 넘어 시간과 내면의 성찰을 축적하는 명상적 과정을 대변합니다.
시간의 축적
볼펜이라는 건식 매체로 쌓아 올린 선들은 시간을 두고 자신을 달래는 행위와 닮아 있습니다. 지워지지 않는 이 흔적들은 상처이자 기록이지만, 동시에 회복의 과정입니다. 반복적인 움직임을 통해 감정은 점차 가라앉고, 이전에는 보이지 않던 질감이 드러납니다.
The Aesthetics of Lines
The tens of thousands of lines created at her fingertips are more than just drawings; they represent a meditative process of accumulating time and inner reflection. Her work blurs the boundaries between floral forms and pure abstraction, exploring new possibilities in contemporary art through the solid touch and sophisticated color expression of dry media.
Imperfection as Balance
It is less about establishing clear boundaries or centers and more about accepting the shifting layers of emotion as they are. Through repetitive movement, emotions gradually settle, and previously invisible textures emerge. It is a record of time spent finding balance within imperfection.
Artist's Note
"The overlapping circles do not form a single shape; instead, they hide, permeate, and linger in a blurred state. I view this work as a process of self-care. It is less about establishing clear boundaries or centers and more about accepting the shifting layers of emotion as they are."
"겹치는 원들은 하나의 형태를 이루지 않고, 대신 숨고, 스미고, 흐릿한 상태로 머뭅니다. 나는 이 작업을 자기 돌봄의 과정으로 봅니다. 명확한 경계나 중심을 세우는 것보다, 감정의 변화하는 층위를 있는 그대로 받아들이는 것에 가깝습니다."
